We have to face it...business cards evolved from the visiting cards, calling cards, and tradecards of the 17th century and are no longer as powerful as they were even a few years ago. Sure, you still need a small item with your contact information on it to give to essentially everyone you meet and expose your brand, but don't expect it to work as a marketing piece for you anymore.
In this day of high tech gadgets, sound bites, and online networking, we need to promote ourselves constantly, widely, and professionally to get any attention at all. The marketplace is crowded with established businesses, start-up enterprises, and more wanna-be's than you can shake a stick at. At every networking event you attend, you likely go home with a fistful of new business cards. How many of them do you actually look at again?
If you're like most of us, you've got stacks and stacks of business cards that, while 'pretty' or even 'sharp-looking', will never be looked at again. What a sad waste. The people who gave you those cards were so hopeful that it would be the ticket, the trigger, for you to call them next week to make a purchase or contract you for some work.
Consultants, coaches, and speakers, in particular, need a new, more high-impact way of making their mark...and passing out hundreds of business cards is not the answer. This blog will explore, exposit, and expand on the best techniques and strategies to promote yourself and your business in this New Marketing Age.
I encourage you to comment on this blog. Let us know what has worked for you...and what hasn't. Have you found books or courses or seminars that were particularly helpful to you? Share what you've discovered. I look forward to this journey with you through Business Life 2.0!

marketing with postcards still works nowadays. You can be successful in bringing more prospects to respond on whatever opportunities you offered. You just have to be creative enough in making the message and design something interesting.
